IB Diploma Grades 11 - 12
The IB Diploma Programme (IB DP), for students aged 16 - 19, is a two-year course of study. Recognized internationally as a qualification for university entrance, it also allows students to fulfill the requirements of their national education system. Students share an educational experience that emphasizes critical thinking as well as intercultural understanding and respect for others in the global community.
The IB Diploma Programme offers a broad and balanced curriculum taught in 6 subject groups.
Over the course of the two-year programme, students:
» study six subjects chosen from the six subject groups
» complete an extended essay
» follow a theory of knowledge course (TOK)
» participate in creativity, action, service (CAS).
Generally:
» three of the six subjects are studied at higher level (courses representing 240 teaching hours)
» the remaining three subjects are studied at standard level (courses representing 150 teaching hours).
Subjects, other than languages, are taught and examined in:
» English.

ThIS High School Diploma
Thuringia International School offers two educational diplomas. The ThIS-Diploma confirms the student’s completion of a minimum set of requirements equivalent to an American High School Diploma. To earn a ThIS diploma students accumulate credits by passing subject courses in Grades 9 to 12.
